3D Tilt Labware Holder
Gentle medium exchange and complete cell harvesting using Greiner Autoflask or Roboflask from Corning
Description
Purpose of 3D Tilt Labware Holder
Middle scale cell culturing with robotic compatible cell culture flasks (i.e. Greiner Autoflask or omnitray from Nunc) requires complete gentle suction of the old medium, gentle addition of fresh medium without hurting the cell layer and swinging of flasks. The complete harvesting of all cells after trypsination also requires a shaking/knocking functionality. The holder has the swinging/tilting/knocking features for automated cell culturing. The holder can be integrated on deck of a liquid handling robot to automate the cell feeding and harvesting.
Features
- Safe aspiration and dispension of cell plates
- Complete exchange of medium in cell plates
- Pivots microplate in X-, Y- or XY-axis
- Tilting angle adjustable by software
- Pivoting / Swirling functions
- Knocking for detachment of cells from the plate surface
- Complete liquid handler integration including pipetting control of heights at different angles
Installation requirements
- electrically operated
- pneumatic pressure approx. 4 bar (max. 7 bar)
The custom device was developed to allow handling on Biomek series i5, i7, NXp Span-8 and FXp Span-8. The device can be modified for other liquid handling robots on request.
